    What will you be doing?

    We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Control Systems Engineer within the Electronics sector to join our team in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems used in manufacturing processes, with a focus on Mitsubishi PLC systems and drives. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production efficiency, ensure product quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

    Your main responsibilities will be:

    • Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes, with a focus on Mitsubishi PLC systems and drives.
    • Collaborate with process engineers, automation specialists, and production teams to understand manufacturing requirements and develop appropriate control strategies.
    • Configure and program PLCs, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control devices to meet operational needs.
    • Conduct system integration testing and commissioning of control systems.
    • Troubleshoot control system issues related to Mitsubishi controls and drives and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
    • Provide technical support and training to production personnel on control system operation and maintenance, with an emphasis on Mitsubishi systems.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in control system technology, particularly in Mitsubishi PLC systems and drives, to drive innovation and improve manufacturing processes.

    Qualifications

    Experience, skills and qualifications required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Proven experience (2+ years) in designing, programming, and troubleshooting control systems in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on Mitsubishi PLC systems and drives.
    • Proficiency in Mitsubishi PLC programming languages (e.g., GX Works, MELSEC), HMIs, and associated software tools.
    • Familiarity with Mitsubishi servo drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other motion control systems.
    • Knowledge of other PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) is a bonus.
    • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC and regulatory requirements for control systems in manufacturing is a bonus.
