Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Supported Housing Officer to join our Owlet Grange service based in Bradford.

About us

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently.

Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment.

We want to end youth homelessness by 2037_._

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.

Owlet Grange, a 9-bed hostel in Shipley, is set to undergo a refurbishment, and we're seeking a dedicated Support Housing Officer (SHO) to play a pivotal role in shaping a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for our Young People.

The SHO will actively participate in the transformation of the outdoor spaces, creating a garden and BBQ area.

With young residents staying approximately 6-12 months, the SHO will employ a holistic and trauma-informed approach to provide targeted support, working closely with individualised action plans.

This includes fostering household management skills, financial literacy, and communal living.

The SHO will also spearhead community-building initiatives, organising engaging activities within the hostel and collaborating with the wider Centrepoint teams.

  • Collaborate with the housing officer to maintain building compliance.
  • Coordinate timely repairs in collaboration with the housing officer and maintenance team.
  • Encourage resident involvement in the community, facilitate attendance at meetings, and seek regular feedback.
  • Utilize Lifewise modules to enhance residents' independent living skills.
  • Maintain a peaceful hostel environment and address any incidents promptly.
  • Prioritise safeguarding, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments for all residents and swift action on concerns.
  • Record all interactions with or concerning residents in compliance with GDPR.
  • Liaise with partner organisations such as social workers, mental health teams, and education/training providers.
  • Actively participate in the refurbishment and planned improvements to Owlet Grange.
  • Collaborate with internal and external education/training providers to support residents in engaging in opportunities.
