We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals in a variety of laboratory support roles to join our team for our Haematology, Coagulation, Immunology & Blood Transfusion Laboratory at Ipswich Hospital as Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistants to provide support as we implement out new laboratory information system further across our pathology services.
The post is initially for 3 months with a possible extension after 31/03/2023, funding to be agreed.You will be required to train in the relevant disciplines now to see how the department works now before the system arrives and then help with the introduction into departments.

Your role will involve supporting the Biomedical Scientists working in the Laboratories whilst working for a Trust with a successful track record of delivering high quality acute medical and surgical services for patients across Suffolk and North Essex.

- Performs a range of routine and nonroutine healthcare science activities under supervision, e.g. performs standard biochemical/haematological tests.
- Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out.
- Demonstrate own duties to new or less experienced employees.
- To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
- The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
- Maintain and promote professional image of pathology department
