    We would like to invite you to join our outpatients therapyservices in this newly revised role which requires specialist skills inmanaging hand therapy conditions and can be fulfilled by an occupational therapistor a physiotherapist. This is an exciting opportunity to join our therapy teamsand help us continue our journey towards excellence. Your role will be to leadand develop the hand therapy service offer, working with colleagues withinBHNFT and across pathways in Barnsley and South Yorkshire. You will be workingalongside advanced specialists in other speciality areas and will be supportedby the collective leadership for therapies and dietetics.

    You will be aninspirational leader with experience of leading change and working with othersto create great care to meet the needs of the Barnsley people.

    Main duties of the job

    You will have advanced clinical skills within themanagement of various hand therapy conditions, and be able to apply thisknowledge and experience to aid the multidisciplinary team in providing bestpossible care.

    You will be responsible for the clinical governance withinthe hand therapy service, and will share your skills more widely across thephysiotherapy and occupational therapy service and wider therapy and dieteticsservice

    You will ensure that the service is evidence based andeffective utilising current and developing guidance and established outcomemeasures.

    You will ensure that you provide a high standard ofleadership for your team, and across the therapy services including living ourvalues as an organisation and as a profession.

    You will be forward thinking, motivating and innovative,developing the service and your colleagues skills in order to be fit for thefuture challenges.

    Our therapy services are undergoing a number ofdevelopments including digital transformation and we have high aspirations forwhere we can take therapy and the therapy teams as a whole. This is both achallenging and exciting time to be joining our team.

    Professional support and ongoing training and developmentwill be in place for the successful candidate.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
  • HPC Registered
  • Extensive post graduate experience, with previous experience working in a specialist area.
  • Evidence of continual Professional Development and post graduate training in relevant area.
  • Experience of working towards a masters in the relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable

  • Member of special interest group
  • MCSP
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of Evidence Based Practice and Risk Assessment.
  • Experience of splinting (static) of the hand.
  • Desirable

  • Member of specialist interest group BAHT
  • MCSP / RCOT
  • BAHT level I/II working towards accreditation
  • Experience of dynamic splinting of the hand.
  • Knowledge and Awareness

    Essential

  • Advanced level of knowledge and physiotherapy or occupational therapy skills in Hand assessment and treatment
  • Advanced level of clinical reasoning, handling and treatment skills
  • Experience in developing Orthopaedic services relating to physiotherapy
  • Ability to teach and supervise at an advanced specialist level on physiotherapy or occupational therapy issues
  • Consistently respond to unpredictable demands on the service
  • Awareness of NHS issues
  • Good knowledge of confidentiality issues
  • Ability to risk assess and have awareness of Health & Safety issues for own and others work area and caseloads
  • Good knowledge of confidentiality issues.
  • Experience of Audit process
  • Responsible for own CPD and for leading on the development of other staffs CPD through the appraisal process
  • Clear vision of role, commitment and development of specialty
  • To participate in the Respiratory/On-Call rota
