Job summary:


The Directorate of Assurance oversees much of the delivery of formal risk, assurance, counter fraud, cost assurance and cost analysis for Defence, with an ambition to be recognised, both within UK Government and internationally, as leaders in the development and delivery of risk and assurance services.

We are a collaborative, innovative and inclusive team that provides support, challenge and assurance to strategic decision making at the heart of Defence.

Within the Directorate, the Defence Risk & Assurance (DRA) team are present in the Department's most senior meetings, expected to offer insight and opinions which support the Permanent Secretary in the discharge of their responsibilities


This position is advertised at 37 hours per week Tacos Dependant and offers flexible/hybrid working in the department with some travel to other MOD sites.

Job description:


The postholder will work within a high profile team of Assurance specialists to support the Annual Assurance Report (AAR) process and the development and implementation of control and assurance frameworks across MOD.

The job holder will be responsible for supporting business partnering at the business group level, through day to day contact with DRA risk and assurance specialists and focal points across the Department.


Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the posts are:

  • Supporting the delivery of the Department's annual assurance reporting processes and assisting in planning and delivering the DRA Annual Assurance Report (AAR).
  • Leading on coordinating the AAR stakeholder meetings and conducting secretariat duties
  • Acting as the point of contact for the management and operational maintenance of the ICAF database and Control Selfassessment (CSA) processes and tools.
  • Delivering CSA training to stakeholders and analysing the selfassessment responses,
  • Supporting in the development of ICAF frameworks to provide Functions with assurance over their business processes
  • Supporting Functions to maintain their control frameworks and complete the CSA process including reviewing the CSA reports to identify trends and themes and management of the Request for Change processes.
  • Providing support to planning and delivery of DRA assurance team outputs.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for assurance queries and manage the DRA assurance Multiuser inbox.
  • Coordinating DRA assurance team planning, regular meetings and delivery activity via team trackers.
  • Overseeing the business management of the team through line management of the business support manager (Grade EO).
  • Supporting the CRO and the assurance team with any adhoc tasks to further mature and embed risk management and assurance within the organisation.
  • Supporting the development of a risk and assurance culture across the Department.

Person specification:

We are looking for a self-starter who is able to prioritise their workload and deliver a consistent, quality service.

Excellent communication and engagement skills are essential to the role and the ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders is a core part of the delivery work involved.

You will need to be highly organised and adaptable with proven Microsoft Office 365 IT technical skills and a strong attention to detail.


Essential qualifications:

  • Achieved, working towards/be prepared to achieve a qualification in risk management such as IRM International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
    _or_ Management of Risk (MOR) Foundation/Practitioner
    _or_ equivalent

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working in a risk/assurance/governance role is desirable for this role.
