Hackney Council's Employment, Skills and Adult Learning Service is seeking to recruit new tutors to our Functional Skills Curriculum Team.


x1 English Tutor (Permanent - 18 hours per week - £39,615 to £40,503 pro pata)

x2 English Tutor (2 year Fixed term/Secondment - 18 hours per week - £39,615 to £40,503 pro pata)


This is an exciting opportunity to join our hard-working and successful team to provide high-quality provision of teaching to our learners and residents whilst supporting them to achieve their goals and improve their skills.


The role includes planning, delivery, assessment and review, providing educational advice and guidance (IAG); alongside course development, for a range of courses, up to and including GCSE provision.


Our service works with learners of all abilities and skill levels, you will need to demonstrate the ability to meet a variety of learning styles and support adult learners with diverse needs.

The role involves course preparation, marking and evaluation of learners' work, assessment /examination preparation, and feedback.

You will be expected to deliver courses in person and online, across a flexible timetable for classes covering day, evening, and weekend sessions across Hackney.

The successful applicant will also be self-motivated, organised, and have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.

A positive attitude is essential, as is a willingness to work flexibly and to be creative.
