The Role:


Commercial Account Handler - Full Time

Preston, Blackburn & Chorley Agency


As a Commercial Account Handler for NFU Mutual Preston, Blackburn & Chorley, you will provide an excellent standard of advice and service to a portfolio of commercial and farming clients.


This role will see you working within the commercial team and handling a wide range of commercial portfolios including renewal reviews, mid-term amendments and building relationships throughout the year.


In return, you will receive full product and sector training, ongoing professional development and assistance with advancing your CII qualifications.

You will be part of a skilled and accomplished team that has ensured that we are one of NFU Mutual's leading agencies.

This role has clear paths of progression, in both senior practitioner and business management capacities.


As a Commercial Account Handler, you'll need to:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients and support the business in achieving targets for new business and renewals/retention of current clients
  • Develop and manage good working relationships with clients, underwriters, financial advisers and other stakeholders
  • Increase the profitability of existing product lines by encouraging clients to use addedvalue services wherever possible
  • Consult on the most effective cover for a particular need
  • Deliver good customer service by responding swiftly to queries and concerns from clients
  • Keep up to date with current market conditions and competitors' products
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and procedures as laid down by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), by keeping up to date with all changes in the regulatory framework

You'll need to have:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An interest in meeting new people and relationship management skills
  • A resultsdriven approach to work in order to meet targets and deliver results to tight deadlines
  • The ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Excellent time management skills and selfmotivation
  • A driving license and access to own vehicle is essential

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above

  • A levels &/or degree (or equivalent)

  • Cert CII

This role falls under the Insurance Distribution Directive.

This means there is a requirement for Continuous Professional Development in role, in addition to ongoing screening checks pre-employment and once in post.
