    Job Type:
    Monday - Sunday (40 hours over five shifts) ) 8am to 5pm

    Salary:
    £32,500 to £34,500 depending on experience


    Responsible to:
    Registered Manager


    Criteria:
    experienced deputy manager or candidate with potential with NVQ Health & Social Care at level 3 or above - completed or enrolled

    The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

    NVQ Health & Social Care at level 3 or above - completed or enrolled.

    A proven and experienced track record as a Deputy Manager or other senior position within a residential care setting.

    Elderly / dementia experience.

    A sound knowledge of the CQC and applicable legislation / standards.


    The successful candidate will:
    Be dynamic & enthusiastic.

    Possess strong leadership skills and works well as part of a team.


    Have good communication skills and be capable of operating software platforms used to manage staff / service users / medication.

    Seeking an experienced Care Home Deputy Manager to work at a residential care home in north London, registered for 56 service users.

    The home provides specialist residential care for the frail elderly and those suffering with dementia and it is essential that you have a solid background within the health sector.

    The home has a 'Good' CQC rating.

    As Deputy Manager you will work closely with the registered manager and be directly involved in the day to day running of the floor and office so that the unit meets the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act and associated regulations.


    Main Duties:


    Your key responsibilities will centre on the management of the staff team on shift, and the delivery of care to those service users living at the service.


    Safe Service - you will:
    Protect service users from avoidable harm and abuse.

    Manage risks (e.g. mobility / behaviour / hygiene) to service users so they are supported.

    Ensure care staff provide assistance to the service user group in a timely manner.


    Assist in the recruitment procedure, in conjunction with our Head Office admin team, and be responsible for mentoring new care staff.

    Manage the medication process so service users medicines are received, administered, recorded, and returned correctly.

    Review and monitor the quality of the service to drive improvement.

    Complete relevant safety checks (e.g. fire / legionella / nurse call).

    Manage the DoL process (e.g. applications for authorisation / mental capacity assessments / best interest decisions).

    Promote social activities at the residential care home / support, facilitate, and record access to the local community.


    Effective Service - you will:
    Ensure service users nutritional needs are assessed and recorded.

    Organise service user access to healthcare services and ensure ongoing healthcare support.

    Ensure care staff have the confidence and skills needed to carry out their roles and responsibilities through mentoring.

    Ensure care staff have regular supervisions.


    Caring Service - you will:


    Ensure service users and their relatives are consulted and actively involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and support.

    Ensure your care staff develop positive caring relationships with service users.

    Ensure your care staff promote your service users privacy and dignity.


    Responsive Service - you will:


    Assess service users needs and respond to any change in needs so that they receive personalised care that is responsive to these needs.

    Update care plans to reflect the care and support given.

    Involve service users in decision making about their care and listen and learn from people's experiences, concerns, and complaints.

    Well Led Service - you will:


    Chair service users and relatives meetings, take note of anything arising, and in discussion with your service provider make changes to the service provision at the service.
