    Real Estate is a key market for the UK economy and a material contributor to UK Commercial Banking.

    Real Estate Finance (REF) is a specialist team with primary responsibility for relationships involving Commercial Real Estate investors and developers.

    The Real Estate Finance (REF) business offers an outstanding opportunity to a prospective candidate to undertake a key role within a core sector for both HSBC and the markets in which it operates.

    The Relationship Management role provides dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of customers with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery.

    We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the London REF team in the role of Relationship Director. Principal Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Maximise profitably by identifying customer needs first and then recommending appropriate solutions for the customer to consider and accept, whilst providing holistic relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk, and operational delivery.
    • Support customers and place their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards and ensuring demonstrating fair customer treatment and delivery of customer satisfaction.
    • Seek new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities and focus on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
    • Global Standards - Manage regulatory and reputational risk, ensure business adherence throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk
    • Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk. Also ensuring adherence to all applicable operational risk HSBC Standards and policies, reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures.
    • Drive revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a needs-based approach which engages clients and increases new business
    • Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.

    Relationship Management role holders will be required to acquire knowledge of a product area and in some geographies may need to hold specific certificates or need membership of a regulatory body.

    QualificationsThe ideal candidate for this role will have the following knowledge and experience:


    • First class relationship management skills are essential, with a proven track record in a corporate client focused environment and an ability to anticipate clients' needs and tailor service delivery to them.
    • Excellent knowledge of UK Real Estate sector, and Bank's structures, products, and services, along with knowledge of structured banking transactions, IPOs, leveraged finance, syndicated loans, private placements, bonds and securitisation and global capital markets is essential
    • Strong ability to manage the competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality and the requirement to drive income is essential.
    • Excellent knowledge of economic and market environment with an ability to demonstrate how this impacts HSBC real estate business/future proposition.
    • Strong understanding of all areas of risk management and processes.
    • Experienced knowledge understanding of Bank's systems - use of HORIS and Client Vision systems (including reporting) and complex MI would be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of changing economic, social, and governmental environment and industries/sectors in the UK
    • Excellent ability to make connections between risk vs. reward, business process management, strategic implementation, reputational and people risks.
    • Personal qualities of stability, maturity and authority and an ability to work with staff at all levels, with strong 'team' skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered.
    • Excellent prioritising, organisation, decision making and time management abilities, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent influencing skills and ability to builds positive working relationships with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
    The base location for this role is Queen Victoria Street, London. A hybrid working arrangement is available, with an expectation of 2 – 3 days in the office per week.
