Description
The Housekeeper will assist the department in the delivery of a high-quality service to children and their families.

Duties will include general housekeeping, monitoring and any other related duties at the discretion of the ED Matron in line with the department requirements.

This will be a supportive role aimed at promoting a positive hospital experience for our patients and their families.


To keep the department tidy and clutter free at all times, promoting an environment that is safe and pleasing for patients and parents.

To inform the nurse in charge of any problems.


To communicate effectively with other departments to organise and co-ordinate any necessary maintenance or repairs, documenting any reported issues and remedial action taken.


To be aware of stock levels for clinical and non-clinical items, ensuring that department supplies are appropriately stored and that stocks in clinical areas are at adequate levels.

To check invoices and report any stock discrepancies.

To adhere to Health and Safety Act in relation to basic food hygiene requirements.

To answer the telephone when other staff are unable to do so, taking messages and communicating information effectively.

To maintain confidentiality relating to all aspects of the Trust's business.

To work within and adhere to all Trust policies and guidelines.

To develop in the role, attending training, working towards competencies, etc.

To monitor linen levels, ensuring ward is adequately stocked at all times.

Monitor equipment ensuring it is clean and maintained.
