    This post is for the East team for older people services within North and East of York Locality.

    The CMHT provides Monday Friday 9am - 5pm assessment and treatment services which include the provision of care for older people with functional mental health problems as well as complex organic care for patients in their own homes.

    The Consultant has a designated office space and secretarial support 0.4 and periodic Foundation Year Trainee placement. This post holder will provide clinical and educational supervision to any junior doctor posted with them. There are no training posts attached to this job. Two Foundation year doctor posts are rotated amongst all MHSOP CMHT teams. The team implements purposeful and productive community service model.
    This is a full-time post. We are Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. We provide mental health and learning disability services to people of all ages.

    We deliver a range of community and in-patient care across adult mental health, children and young peoples services, mental health services for older people and forensic services.

    With an annual operating income of over £420 million, we work in partnership with local authorities, clinical commissioning groups, voluntary organisations, the private sector, as well as people who use our services, their families and carers.

    You will be expected to join a continuous professional development (CPD) peer group.

    You will use your peer group to help identify and review learning objectives linked to clinical, academic and professional practice in support of your CPD.

    You are entitled to 30 days study leave in any three-year period. Less than full time consultants have a pro rata entitlement.

    As a consultant you will be required to attend an annual job plan review meeting with your associate medical director or lead psychiatrist and managerial equivalent.

    You will bring relevant data on workload in the previous year to the meeting, using electronic job planning software (SARD).

    There is a need for a flexible approach to the pattern of working which may change from time to time in line with the demands from various areas of the service and needs of the population.

    Support and training will be available through the Trusts Revalidation Team to help you become acquainted with the appraisal process and system.

    Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
    MB BS or equivalent medical qualification

    Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.

    Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
    Participated in continuous professional development
    Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
    Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.

    Able to use electronic records and use IT for email, internet and office software
    Reflects on own performance and behaviour, seeking and acting on feedback.
    Shows commitment to quality through knowledge of quality improvement and lean thinking methodology OR able to achieve within one year of appointment
    Understanding of NHS & wider health economy and its implications for the work of the Trust.
    Trained to standard equivalent to level 2 in TEWV Trust Quality improvement system
    Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
