    As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

    This is your chance to be part of something bigger, contributing directly to the maintenance and upkeep of the Royal Navy's fleet.

    This could see you working on Warships, Submarines or within our factories supporting the delivery these complex engineering projects.
    Installing and aligning new mechanical equipment, ensuring everything is meticulously positioned and operational
    Conducting functional tests and surveys to verify that systems are performing optimally.
    Troubleshooting any mechanical issues that may arise and ensuring efficient solutions

    We offer a full-time, 36-hour position based at the historic Devonport Royal Dockyard, providing you with the opportunity to work in a truly unique environment.

    Essential experience of the

    Mechanical Fitter:
    Operating various workshop machinery specific to mechanical fitting

    Experience working in the marine engineering industry, particularly on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships.

    Demonstrable experience of removing, installing, and overhauling marine mechanical equipment, with a focus on propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, and power generation equipment.

    Experience working in a marine engineering environment (desirable)
    Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter
    We're looking for candidates with a good foundation in mechanical engineering. Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering
    An indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
    A Level-3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
    A Level-3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
