    About the Role

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced strategy and policy professional to join our corporate policy team.

    We are seeking experienced applicants with a successful track record and a passion for innovative, creative, evidence-based strategy and project development.

    The post holder will support the review and delivery of our Council Plan and its vision to make Liverpool: fairer, cleaner, stronger for all.

    As Senior Policy Officer you will help shape and deliver this transformational agenda through collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and partners.

    This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise and to work with a wide range of influencers.

    Responsibilities:

    You will:

  • develop, monitor and review the Council Plan and ensure its priorities are embedded throughout all council activity, other plans and strategies, and processes such as performance reporting and budget setting.
  • provide corporate support and guidance on strategy and plan development.
  • undertake policy, strategy, research and project development to progress corporate priorities and continuous improvement.
  • support colleagues from across the council on projects and initiatives, as required.
  • provide quality briefings, research intelligence, policy advice, project proposals and evaluation which will enable Liverpool City Council to influence the policies and activities of government and partner agencies/bodies at national, city region and local levels.
  • What You'll Need:

  • Excellent broad knowledge of public policy and issues affecting local government and cities
  • Expertise and achievement within specific and relevant policy areas
  • Substantial experience of writing, and developing organisational strategies and plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise, accurate reports and to clearly communicate complex information in a manner appropriate to different audiences
