    Salary - £38,000 - £43,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

    Welsh language skills would be an advantage for this role, but not a requirement.

    Job Purpose

    The Business Advisor role reports to the Head of Production in BBC Wales and sits in the Business Management Production team. The team is responsible for providing business and production management support for Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, News, Sport and the National Orchestra of Wales.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    The role is expected to form a strong relationship with key senior stakeholders in production and business support departments to apply consistent best practice across production, business, people and financial management practices. The role works alongside designated senior production leaders and will be responsible for maintaining high quality management information to support good decision making. Duties range from:
    • Fully supporting the in-house production slate including setting a portfolio of budgets, allocating funding and managing production spend
    • Overseeing risk controls across Finance, HR, Procurement and Production
    • Providing effective business support for the Heads of Department in Production
    • Ensuring finance controls and reporting are timely and accurate
    • Maintaining compliance progress and reporting e.g. Training, Sustainability
    • Overseeing project management activity e.g. Savings, Capital, Change & Business Cases
    • Providing clarity for production teams - turning complex workflows, terminology, controls and activity into meaningful information and plans
    • Developing new opportunities that add value in the production area.
      Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

      The successful candidate will have:
      • excellent business and finance skills including business analysis and reporting to non-finance stakeholders.
      • experience of production management and/or managing a portfolio of productions
      • examples of developing new ideas for maximising value from production methods and/or production management
      • good knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform workflows to ensure the most efficient use of production resources
      • excellent data management skills to spot issues & opportunities such as activity spikes or utilisation problems
      • gained or working towards a recognised professional financial qualification
      • some experience of driving change and implementing agreed strategies in a complex environment
      • a strong awareness of key BBC policies and vision
      • up-to-date knowledge of the BBC content and trends in the wider industry
