    Registered Veterinary Nurse
    Powderham Veterinary Group, Torquay
    Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience

    Powderham Veterinary Group have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team.

    We all have a share of responsibilities here, spending time between surgical, medical and nurse clinic duties to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge.

    If you have a particular area of interest, we want to support you to pursue your passion. We like to encourage nurse clinics at all the practices and we're open to new ideas to expand and improve this service for clients.

    Day-to-day Nurse duties include:

  • Nurse clinics
  • Lab work
  • Supporting the Vets in surgery – (placing IV lines, taking blood, monitoring anaesthetics, setting up fluids, assisting with radiographs / CT's ).

    You would be required to take part in our Saturday morning rota with time off in lieu given, currently 1 in 8. There are no on-call or out-of-hours shifts, but we do provide our own out-of-hours inpatient care at South Devon Veterinary Hospital.

    Our South Devon Veterinary Hospital has a dedicated night & weekend team so if those shifts are of particular interest to you, let us know.

    Our Exceptional Practices

    We have 4 practices within our group, based in the Newton Abbot / Torquay area of South Devon. We sit directly between the spectacular Tors of Dartmoor and the un-rivalled South Devon Coastline with its fabulous beaches just a short hop away.

    Powderham Veterinary Group has been established since 1981 and are well known for our kind, family feel practice. We are a dedicated, busy SA first opinion practice.
    Kingsteignton Veterinary Practice is a friendly, well-established 1st Opinion practice in the heart of the community.
    South Devon Veterinary Hospital and Referrals is located on the edge of the picturesque village of Abbotskerswell in the old village cider works offering both 1st Opinion and Referral services. We are open 24 hours a day for in-patient care.

    All of the practices have great facilities including in-house haematology and biochemistry, a medical standard fan beam CT Scanner, an ultrasound/endoscopy suite, digital X-ray and digital dental X-ray. All practices are RCVS Practice Standards Scheme accredited so you can be certain that we like to promote and maintain the very highest standards of care.

    Our referral hospital has a Diplomat-led Ophthalmology service as well as undertaking Orthopaedic Referrals, Outpatient CTs and Laparoscopic bitch spays and provides 24hr hospital in-patient care.

    About the Team and Culture

    Our team of 9 Vets are supported by 15 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, and a fabulous reception team, all led by our hard-working Practice Managers and Practice Director who are on hand to support everyone. Our nurses carry out daily consults and schedule 3 work, many of whom are certificate holders with special interests. They also assist the Vets in clinics to maximise patient care and client support opportunities.
