Job summary:

Learning and Development is part of the Human Resources team within the Corporate Services Directorate of the Planning Inspectorate.

The Corporate Services Directorate aims to provide its customers with professional services that are amongst the best in the Civil Service and support the work of the Inspectorate by creating a performance culture, investing in technology and processes, and using our diversity to help us innovate.


Human Resources provide a variety of support, advice and guidance on all aspects of developing and managing our people and teams.

We have a vacancy for a Digital Learning Designer whose role will be to support and drive both the development and modernisation of our learning function.

Job description:


We are looking for a customer focused individual who is a good team player, highly organised, able to exercise judgement and deliver a quality service in effective and efficient way.

Good communication skills, being a strong collaborator and an ability to build strong stakeholder relationships are very important to this role.

The role will provide efficient learning design and e-learning content development to build our digital curriculum.

The Digital Learning Designer will have responsibility for developing the visual design of learning materials and platforms.

Person specification:


Essential Criteria

  • Fully proficient in using authoring tools and creating video content.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present in an engaging way with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Great attention to detail with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience in consulting with stakeholders about their learning requirements to diagnose the problem and create the right solution.
  • Strong experience in carrying out instructional design processes and creating clear scripts, storyboards and digital content.

Desirable Criteria

  • Diploma in Digital Learning Design or equivalent.
  • Previous experience at implementing and embedding Learning Management System
