Job Description:


Job purpose:
Inspection of basic components for acceptance into the manufacturing operations at KMS. To integrate into the inspection, quality, and operational teams.

Opportunity to develop key quality skills and techniques for use within the business (Quality system Audit, Faro arm measurement, continuous improvements).


Key Responsibilities:
(Key Tasks)


  • Verify mechanical and machining materials based upon FET drawings and test specifications.
  • Inspection of Basic/Simple fabricated and machined components to engineering drawings.
  • Perform mechanical inspections (under supervision) for components and completed assemblies, paint shop inspections, visual inspections and thickness measurements
  • Assist with the company's calibration program.
  • Complete all necessary documentation according to company requirements, (including timesheets, NCR's. etc.)
  • Assist with the filing of Quality records.
  • Carry out job tasks safely using good working practices.
  • Ensure good housekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality manager.

  • Perform inspections on Basic components highlighting pass or fail status.

Education/Qualifications (essential):


  • Secondary education.

Education/Qualifications (desirable):


  • Apprentice trained in machine tools.

Technical Competencies (desirable):


  • ISO 9001 and ISO14001 experience.
  • Lean manufacturing, TQM and continuous improvement tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, six sigma, 5S.

Key Skills (essential):


  • Computer literate (MS Access and Excel).
  • Good communication skills, learning ability and proactive personality.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good team player.
  • Full clean driving license.

Key Skills (desirable):


  • Continuous improvement techniques.
  • Problem solving & root cause analysis.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
  • An ability to understand drawings in line with basic quality control decisions.

Experience (desirable):

  • 12 years' experience in quality control activities within a mechanical component environment.
  • Previous experience of using measuring equipment. (Vernier callipers, micrometres etc.)

QHSE Competencies:


  • Maintain behaviour in compliance with Forum HSE requirements
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour
  • Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk
