    Job summary

    The division of Children & Families would like to invite applicants for a Fixed Term Band 3 post to join the medical secretary team within Paediatrics at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

    There is one position available for 24 hours fixed term for 12 months to cover Maternity Leave, the post is to support Consultant Paediatricians.

    You will need experience in managing the robust systems in place for the administrative engagement of patient pathways. You will need to be able to work flexibly as part of the team - sometimes across sites - to produce clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software from outpatient and inpatient attendances.

    Experience in using the PTL (Patient Tracker List) to manage patient's pathway is desirable along with a knowledge of medical terminology. Previous experience of working in a clerical / secretarial role is essential.

    You will be required to display tact and diplomacy, and have developed communication skills when dealing with senior staff, patients, colleagues and the general public.

    Knowledge and Exprience

    Essential

  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Computer literate incl. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Desirable

  • Fully conversant with all waiting list functions on PAS and the ability to action these independently.
  • Good knowledge of speciality specific patient pathways
  • Experience of working in a Health Care setting in clinical administration role
  • Understanding of patient priorities and targets in relation to appointments and waiting times, specifically Referral to Treatment
  • Qualifications/Training

    Essential

  • ECDL or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • RSA III or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • Desirable

  • Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship
