    This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our team. We are looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist with an interest in developing their clinical skills in the field of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
    The Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) Service is a specialist Service established in collaboration with Kent County Council and NHS England. The Service assesses and supports disabled children and young people who need to use Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) or Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC). We have strong relationships with local Paediatric Therapy Services. We value and use these links to benefit our own staff, as well as the

    Main duties of the job

    In this role you will take a lead on Speech & Language Therapy issues working with a multi-disciplinary team to assess and review disabled children and young people with complex needs to use a range of AAC devices, including voice output communication aids. You will also have an important role in delivering training courses to professionals who support children and young people with less complex needs.

    As the successful applicant you will be an experienced therapist with knowledge and experience of supporting children and young people who use AAC and EAT. You will have a professional Speech and Language Therapy qualification, state registration with the HCPC and RCSLT as well as evidence of maintaining and developing your skills through continuing professional development. You will be passionate about meeting the needs of children and families.

    The post will be based at The Old Railway School in Ashford, but will involve working across Kent and Medway. This job provides excellent opportunities for ongoing professional development working in a highly supportive team.

    Person specification Qualifications

    • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy or equivalent

    Professional Registration

    • Registration with HCPC
    • Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists

    Experience

    • A minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist
    • Substantial post-qualification experience working as a paediatric therapist, including children with severe and complex needs that require the use of AAC.
    • Experience of working with education and school staff.

    Employer certification / accreditation badges

    You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
