    Job summary

    Within our unique service offering, Autism Unlimited is in search for a part-time Lead Speech and Language to join our therapy team.

    The Speech and Language Therapy team is part of a multidisciplinary in-house therapy team including other Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Behaviour Specialists which are overseen by the Head of Therapy. The Therapy Team work with the autistic people we support including children and young people here at Portfield School. We offer a collaborative and integrated approach to therapeutic input, working closely with our colleagues who know the individual in order to provide a holistic and person-centred experience.

    Main duties of the job

    Duties would include:

  • Leading on the delivery of a comprehensive, innovative and evidence based Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service that meets the needs of the students and adults, within a Positive Behaviour Model. Delivery will include the assessment of students along with planning, implementing and evaluating interventions. These may have been delivered directly or indirectly.
  • Planning and development of the SLT service and provide line management to SLT team members.
  • Working in close collaboration with classroom teams, as well as the other members of the Therapy team, in order to provide integrated therapeutic support.
  • Promoting expertise and best practice through training, modelling and staff coaching.
  • Adhering to HCPC professional conduct, participating in continuous professional development through self-directed learning.

    Essential

  • Our ideal applicant will need to have:
  • Evidence of established specialist skills in SLT assessment, clinical reasoning and management.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills through use of appropriate management styles, ability to adapt communication and effective prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Able to work as an effective and co-operative team member and to collaborate successfully with colleagues and Head of Therapy.
  • Effective line management skills evidenced through the ability to coach, support and performance manage team members.
  • Desirable

  • Minimum 7+ years experience working within an Speech and Language Therapy setting, SLT Degree and current registrations with HCPC and RCSLT
  • Equally this role could well appeal to someone looking for a change in role and outside of NHS.
