Responsibilities:


  • Manage a large and complex planning enforcement case load.
  • Make unaccompanied site visits, including those involving complex land use issues, immediately recognising breaches of planning control (including breaches of S106 Agreements, etc).
  • Decide on expediency and course of action, liaising with the planning Enforcement Manager and/or Planning Service Manager where necessary.
  • Write letters to contravenor(s) and complainant(s), outlining Councils course of action.
  • Be able to effectively enter into negotiations with the contravener to remedy complicated breaches of planning control.
  • Understand relevant Planning Legislation including a detailed knowledge of Permitted Development Rights and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
  • Write enforcement reports recommending service of a range of different types of enforcement notices and supervise service of enforcement related notices.
  • Positively contribute to the preparation of document for appeals, including production of detailed witness statement/exhibits.
  • Appear at informal hearings and public inquiries where necessary.
  • Investigating and preparing cases to undertake prosecutions and oversee prosecutions through the magistrates' courts and where necessary through the Crown Court.
  • Comprehensively understand enforcement/planning appeal decision letters, S106 Agreements and other legal documents.

Requirements:


  • Experienced in responding to external/internal enquiries about enforcement matters in line with Planning Section standards
  • Understanding Of Planning Application, Enforcement Work And Appeals.

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

£34.76 per hour
