Design Engineer 2Mechanical Design Engineer100% Office basedProcess Machines Manufacturer£ £ Benefits (Medicash, Pension, Merit Increase)We are working with an established Process Machines Manufacturer company based in East Yorkshire, UK. They are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.In return for a salary in the region £ £44.000 along with excellent employment benefitsUnder the general direction of the Designer/ Manager, the Designer II is responsible for creating accurate, well-presented 2D drawings and 3D models in accordance with established standards and conventions. These will include 2D layouts and 3D plant models, Plant P & I Ds, fabrication drawings and details working in either a metric or imperial workspace.Key Responsibilities include:

• Create AutoCAD 2D layouts, PFDs (from marked templates), foundation drawings and conveying systems with limited guidance.
• Utilise AutoCAD and Plant software to create 3D models including steelwork and equipment.
• Understand the factors affecting Extractor and DTDC design such that significant changes can be made to arrangement and detail drawings.
• Use Plant P & I D software to create intelligent P & I Ds in conjunction with a Process Engineer and develop valve, instrument and line data.
• Understand the potential impact of code requirements on vessel construction.
• Occasional UK and overseas travel for site visits and collaboration as required.
• Provide guidance for Level I Designers and check their work if requested.
• Gain in depth knowledge of group equipment using internal learning resources, to enable informed creation of layouts and associated details
• Occupy lead role for the design input on a single process green field project

Requirements:

• Educated to minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (design bias)
• Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD 2D and 3D design
• Operating knowledge of 3D piping software and NavisWorks.
• Sound understanding of engineering practice and procedures
• Having a basic knowledge of piping systems, materials and routing principles.

* Proficient in the following skills:

• Use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel (Basic Level) and File Explorer
• Process Flow Diagram creation from marked up templates
• Process & Instrumentation Drawing creation from marked up templates
• Layout draughting and design
• Vessel and machine draughting and design
• Fabrication and detail draughting and design
• Self-organise when working across multiple projects, under direction from Level III Designer or the Designer/Manager
• Demonstrate a good understanding of spoken and written English
• Communicate effectively with sub-contractors, suppliers and design facilities as required.
• Possess high integrity and ethics.
• Understand the importance of IP protection and follow any associated instructions appropriately.
