    PostgreSQL Database Administrator | Financial Services

    Fantastic opportunity for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join a financial services organisation on a permanent basis.

    The role will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of database systems. You will play a critical role in monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting databases to support the efficient operation of products and services.

    You will identify opportunities for performance improvement, implement best practices, and proactively address any issues to maintain high levels of system performance and availability.

    The Job

    • Design, implement, and maintain database systems based on business requirements.
    • Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Tune database configurations for optimal performance.
    • Develop and implement strategies for scaling database infrastructure.
    • Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard sensitive data.
    • Regularly perform database backups and ensure data recovery procedures are in place.
    • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for databases.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as database backups, updates, and patches.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Share knowledge and best practices with team members to enhance collective expertise.

    The Person:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    • Proven experience as a Database Administrator specialising in SQL performance tuning.
    • In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL database management system.
    • Proficiency in SQL and database optimisation techniques.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
    • Knowledge of Linux operating system and shell scripting is a plus.
