    The role

    We are seeking a permanent Developer Team Leader who will form part of and lead a team responsible for the development and maintenance of the IT systems and services employed by Shoosmiths' legal and business support departments.

    You will be required to travel to Northampton one day per week, with occasional travel to other Shoosmiths offices where necessary.

    It is essential that the post holder can work flexible or extended hours to complete some tasks outside of core business hours of 08:00 to 18:00.

    Main responsibilities

    As well as leading a team the successful applicant will be involved in all phases of the development of business-changing enterprise solutions, responsibilities will include:

  • Line manager responsibility for a team of developers and administrators, including workload and performance management.
  • Support team members in delivering the best possible service to Shoosmiths users and customers.
  • Regularly review the Shoosmiths development standards including software development and deployment life cycles with other team leaders and team members.
  • Ensure that the Shoosmiths development standards are met in all development.
  • Review system designs and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Be an active member of team delivering the same quality development, administration, and support as other team members.
  • Regularly review the Shoosmiths documentation standards with other team leaders and team members.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is created and maintained for all system developments.
  • Methodically investigate, analyse, and document requirements.
  • Design, develop and maintain key software applications and components in accordance with Software and Security Development Lifecycles.
  • Test all software development and resolve any issues, ensuring systems operate in a reliable manner.
  • Provide accurate development effort estimates.
  • Other responsibilities will include service management and administration, including

  • Administer and maintain applications in accordance with the needs of the firm.
  • Contribute significantly to third-tier support processes, resolving problems, documenting root causes, and improving service levels.
  • Support other members of the Development team and of the IS Department as a whole.
  • Liaise with the business where required, ensuring a rapid response to all problems and issues and to provide feedback on ideas and queries.
  • Develop implementation plans required to deal with complex requests for change, evaluating any risks to the integrity of the firm's infrastructure associated with the change.
  • This specification is not limitative, and the successful applicant will be expected to work generally within the application development, deployment, and support sphere.

    Skills and qualifications

    Role-specific knowledge and expertise;

  • Experience with iManage or other Enterprise Document Management Systems.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online as a Developer or Administrator.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • A board understanding of Enterprise IT systems.
  • A board understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Preferred

  • Experience with Case Management Systems
  • Experience of Designing and Maintaining an Intranet
  • Qualifications, and other role-specific requirements;

    Essential

  • Good A Levels/BTEC Preferably in IT and or Mathematics
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related discipline
