    Description

Are you a Sociology Graduate looking for a role in Education and Training? If you are sincere about pursuing a career within Trauma, Advocacy, and Mental Health, then this Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role could be perfect for you.

This is an ideal SEN Support and Teaching Assistant (TA/LSA) role for an aspiring Parole or Probation Officer in the future, all built around a restorative approach.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working in classes of 3-6 pupils with a staff-to-student ratio of 1:1.

You will provide assistance and supervision for students before, during and after lessons, assist students to understand and participate in set tasks in an appropriate way, work with a class, small group, or individual learners, encourage the development of appropriate social skills, maintain accurate individual student records, help to build confidence and motivation, participate in team meetings and training programs, and work with managers and employees to support the developing culture of the organization.

Undergraduate Degree (preferably in Criminology or Psychology) and/or previous SEN experience
Good general education levels in English and Maths (5 grade and above) desired
Real focus on outside interests that diversify away from core subjects, building key and personal skills (e.g. Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, and Hair Dressing)

This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with previous SEN experience or a graduate with a keen interest in this area of work.

If you're looking for a career in youth work, then this opportunity is not to be missed.

The school offers a restorative, therapeutic approach to education and behavior management and has recently been graded as 'good' in key categories such as leadership and management and behavior.

This has largely been achieved through the school's commitment to its restorative processes and programs, and a lot is achieved through positive reinforcement.

You will have the potential of seeing qualified psychologists and therapists at work with specific students and work with like-minded Psychology and Social Science Graduates.

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
