    Job summary

    30 Hours Per Week.

    We are looking to recruit aBand 3 Pharmacy assistant to support the medicine management team at South-WestYorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

    Our trust offers mentalhealth, community, learning disability and wellbeing services as well asproviding a pharmacy service to two rehabilitation wards and a hospice.

    The successful candidate mustbe enthusiastic, self-motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonalskills and be able to prioritise their own workload.

    You will be working at wardlevel to ensure our inpatients have the medication they need throughout theirstay.

    We are a small pharmacy teambased at Kendray Hospital, Barnsley and you will be expected to workeffectively as part of a team and independently.

    Part of this role will betravelling across the locality to deliver the service. A full driving licensewill be required.

    Applicants must hold a NVQLevel 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent pharmacy qualification and bewilling to undertake internal competency-based training as part of the role.

    Main duties of the job

    Participate inthe ward stock top ups ensuring medications are ordered for wards anddepartments in a timely manner.

    Checking stocklevels on a regularly basis.

    Working with themedicine management technicians and pharmacists reviewing stock levels.

    Ensuring allstocklists are reviewed and updated at ward/department level.

    Liaising withnursing/pharmacy/clinic staff to reduce waste, solve supply problems and ensurestocks are maintained at required levels ensuring the best service to patients.

    Ensuring allhospital sites are separating and disposing of waste in the correct way.

    Assistin the delivery of medicines assurance checks in line with key safetystandards.

    Job responsibilities

    To participate in the topping- up service wherebystock drug items are supplied to wards and departments within the BarnsleyBusiness Delivery Unit of SWYPFT and Barnsley Hospice, by routinely.

    Checking ward /department stock levels.

    Producing and amending computer generated pickinglists.

    Adjusting stock levels.

    Liaising with nursing/pharmacy/clinic staff toreduce waste, solve supply problems and ensure stocks are maintained atrequired levels ensuring the best service to patients.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills

    Essential

  • Good IT Skills (word, excel outlook).
  • Understand the need for confidentiality.
  • Desirable

  • Knowledge of stock control.
  • Following SOPs.
  • Data input into excel or access.
  • Knowledge of COSHH.
  • Knowledge of data protection act.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Knowledge of the concept of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge and experience of dispensing prescriptions.
  • Physical Attributes

    Essential

  • Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).

  • Experience of working in a UK pharmacy either in the community or hospital setting.
