This post offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the radiotherapy team working in a patient facing clinical setting.

The position covers both the front of house reception along with bookings and coordination administrative processes.


The role will include booking all appointments associated with the radiotherapy pathway, coordinating the different elements to ensure they are booked in the appropriate order and within the appropriate timeframe via ARIA.

To provide a highly supportive service to patients coming to the radiotherapy department and to liaise effectively with patients to provide streamlined radiotherapy treatment.


The post holder will be providing high quality, comprehensive range of administrative duties and deliver an excellent patient and user experience by meeting and greeting patients, visitors, and colleagues on the front of the house reception in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Provie administrative and reception services to the RT department ensuring that quality standards are maintained whilst ensuring that patients and their families receive the highest level of service.
  • Communicate tactfully with patients, ensuring that they are treated in a sympathetic and caring manner.
  • Resolve queries from patients and their families where possible and ensure that any complaints/problems are channelled to the appropriate staff.
  • Develop the interpersonal skills required to cooperate with team members and others in the multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care, information and support is given to all patients, their relatives, and carers.
  • Coordinate appointments for all patients with other members of the multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ensure radiotherapy referrals are correct and follow the departments guidance on starting/initiating each patient's paperless workflow on ARIA.
  • Work with the sitespecific clinical team to ensure that they have all the clinical information they require to safely treat the patient.
  • Follow the departments booking procedures and to process the bookings on ARIA following the radiotherapy department targets and protocols, to ensure patients are seen in an efficient and timely manner and booked within national and locally set targets.
  • Maintain the smooth running of the patient pathway, by exchanging medical and other information on patient treatment and facilitating any changes.
