    Job summary

    Corporate Finance is recruiting for an Assistant Finance Analyst / Finance Analyst to complement our Financial Planning Team (Band 6/7 dependant on qualification status and experience).

    You will work as part of highly regarded central team to provide a comprehensive analytical support service to the Finance Business Partners, Head and Senior Corporate Financial Planning Managers and other internal / external customer and contacts.

    As an Analyst, you will play a key part in our key finance business processes, including cost modelling and reporting, establishment costing, budget build, commissioning and pricing as well as providing presenting financial data and advice to a wide variety of stakeholders.

    Main duties of the job

    As part of a small central team, the post holder will provide a comprehensive analytical support service to all stakeholders including the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the areas of cost modelling and reporting. Your responsibilities include:

  • Presenting financial data, provide specialist training and expert advice to finance and non-finance stakeholders, along with the ability to develop, maintain and support systems that form an integral part of our key business processes.
  • Providing high-level, expert financial advice to both financial and non-financial managers up to and including senior officers/managers of external organisations.
  • Maintaining and delivering the B&SS costing model(s), and adopting Activity Based Costing methodology.
  • Responding to freedom of information requests, DH data requests and any other ad hoc information.
  • Reviewing existing frameworks and implementing effective improvement plans to support financial resources.
  • Developing and delivering systems frameworks to support business case development.
  • Developing key reports such as activity benchmark information etc. and using these to incorporate expenditure across service lines.

  • Qualified Accountant with post-qualification experience. OR specialist relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Significant experience of financial management and financial modelling within a large, multi-disciplined organisation.
  • Experience of supporting the development of business cases utilising investment appraisal techniques.
  • Experience of using an integrated financial / general ledger system, performance management tools and costing software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the general NHS environment and NHS finance policies.
  • Experience of working with information technology such as MS Office suite and recognised business software packages.
