    Job summary

    The post holder is responsible for the application of prescribed synthetic or plaster casts. He/she is expected to carry out all relevant interventions without direct supervision and will be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise qualified/unqualified staff.

    To develop professional/working relationships with colleagues and other members of the nursing post holder will demonstrate a positive attitude in working towards achieving the Organisation's Mission Statement in providing a quality service.

    You will be required to work in the Plaster room with adults and children and be required to cover the Fracture clinic/ Virtual Fracture clinic. You will also provide a service to the wards when patients are unable to attend the plaster room and theatre for cast application if and when needed. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be working as a core member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a patient centred casting service.

    We are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills, proactive and motivated. You will need to have the ability to multitask, organise your own workload whilst remaining calm under pressure and enjoy a challenge. You will have a caring and compassionate personality and want to make a positive difference to the patient's journey with us.

    The shifts are 08:00-16:30 Monday - Thursday and 08:00-13:30 Friday

  • BOA Plaster Technician Certificate
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, mandatory and statutory training
  • Desirable

  • Valid ILS / BLS Certificate
  • IQT Bronze
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working in T&O / OPD / Plaster Room
  • Experience of providing holistic patient care
  • Desirable

  • Experience of mentotoring / teaching
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Competent in application of a range of synthetic casts and splints
  • Competent in all aspects of wound care including removal of sutures and clips
  • Basic IT skills
  • Desirable

  • Knowledge of incident reporting policy and procedures
