We're looking for a Programme Manager with experience to join an important charity helping vulnerable children across the world.

About the role:
The organisation's Programme Management Unit consists of 14 staff.

In FY23 the PMU was responsible for delivering 68 programmes funded through institutional grants, contracts for services, and private and corporate philanthropy worth £61 million.

Our current projection for FY24 is 26 projects worth £32.5 million. Projects are often in 'fragile contexts', with the bulk of our investments being in East Africa and Eastern Europe.


Programme Managers (PM) are responsible for working with the organisation's National Offices & implementing partners to build and nurture strong working relationships and manage a portfolio of programmes funded by institutional donors (grants and contracts) and other private funding sources.

Throughout the programme cycle from start up, to implementation and close out, Programme Managers will ensure they achieve impact with the most vulnerable children, comply with donor requirements and that risks are managed effectively.


Key responsibilities will include:
*Work with Programme Acquisition Managers to ensure effective transition/ start of up new programmes.
*Proactively monitor programme performance, identifying and mitigating programmatic and organisational risk, and escalate as necessary. Work with Programme Finance Officers to manage programme budgets and donor compliance.
*Regular visits to monitor and verify grant performance and implementation, provide grant management training, and meet donors/ partners as appropriate.
*Maintain strong donor relationships on existing programmes, including managing donor reporting, to contribute to their effective implementation and position World Vision for future funding opportunities.
*Maintain strong relationships with implementing partners on programmes, to ensure they are accountable for high-quality delivery and to prepare for future funding opportunities.
*Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) unit and Technical Advisors to ensure that evidence of impact is developed in programmes to help in positioning for future funding.
*Ensure compliance with the organisation's systems, processes, and tools in the delivery of programmes. This includes full use of the Grant Acquisition Management (GAM) processes, Programme Implementation Management System (PIIMS) and time management system (HARVEST).


About you:

To perform well in this role, you'll need:
*Proven experience with excellent project management skills, able to work on complex multiple tasks against competing deadlines and successfully prioritising these to meet deadlines.
*Experience in developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements, shifting worldviews (Particularly DEC, FCDO, EU and UN bodies), and working with and developing relationships with consortium partners.
*Proactive, inquisitive, strategic, and tenacious in identifying and pursuing new grant funding opportunities.
*Proven experience in training, mentoring, or capacity-building.
*Field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Previous experience in Eastern Europe is an asset.
