The Role

We are recruiting for a Employee Relations Advisor to join us


The Employee Relations Team is responsible for providing end to end ER support and advice to managers and HRBPs on ER cases across the FCA and Payment Systems Regulator, with oversight of applicable ER management reporting.


The Employee Relations team sits within the wider HR Policy & Delivery team, which also includes, HR Advisory, HR Helpline, Payroll and Benefits teams.

You will provide support on investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases, sickness cases and conduct related issues.

Managers and HR colleagues that you will support are largely based in Stratford, East London, but could be located in our offices in Leeds or Edinburgh.

Your advice will be given via MS Teams, on the telephone, in writing or in person (depending on logistics).

There are four colleagues in the ER team supporting the various departments of the FCA and PSR.

What does the role involve?- Reporting to Employee Relations Manager, the successful applicant will be part of the ER & Wellbeing Team, sharing a personal responsibility to deliver our ER case management strategy, culture and operation- Leveraging you proven Employee Relations experience, to support the ER team in developing and evolving process and technological efficiencies, in conjunction with the wider HR Policy & Delivery team- Accountability for the timely management of FCA and PSR cases, providing oversight and advice, ensuring a consistent and pragmatic approach across cases, partnering with our external legal provider where necessary- Building pragmatic working relationships with HRBP's and line managers to help determine priorities, for the ER Team to inform the appropriate course of action when meeting the challenge of employee matters in business areas- Working with employee representatives, internal and external, when an employee has an authorised companion during and ER case- Representing ER in key forums with the HRBP's as part of the wider HR Policy & Delivery team at the FCA- Liaison with external counsel in the preparation and defence of the occasional Employment Tribunal hearing

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum- Experience of delivering coaching and learning on ER issues at all levels across the organisationEssential- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, ability to flex a personal style dependent on the audience- Ability to identify and quantify risks and advise stakeholders accordingly- Ability to influence and articulate arguments to gain business commitment- Significant experience of drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, managing litigation and early conciliation COT3's- Strong project management and analytical skills

Desirable- CIPD qualified or equivalent- Experience of working in a regulatory or financial services environment

The FCA has a national role and is committed to a national footprint. This role can be based in London, Leeds and Edinburgh. The FCA has London and National Pay ranges to reflect regional differences.

The base salary range for this role is from £55,000 to £64,000 per annum in London and from £47,000 to £56,000 per annum in Leeds and Edinburgh, plus an additional flexible allowance.
