What you will be doing

We have an interesting opportunity for someone to join our International team as a Claims Executive in London or Newcastle.

In this exciting role, you'll be responsible for handling many different P&I claims, including those that are more difficult and complex, from notification to completion.

Your main duties will include:

Undertaking routine claims handling, including personal injury matters, cargo claims, property damage claims, collisions, pollution claims.
Verifying that the risk/claim is covered under the Member's entry with the Club.
Settling third party P&I claims at the most economic figure possible, in accordance with the Rules and the Member's Terms of Entry.
Handling Defence disputes.
Appointing, lawyers, surveyors, consultants and correspondents and to receive and evaluate critically advice received, and act thereon.
Notifying Reinsurers and make recoveries from both the pool and the excess reinsurers, or other contractual parties where appropriate.
Reporting internally.
Preparing agendas and reports.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys what they do and has a determined 'can do' attitude.

A confident communicator, you should also be able to challenge and influence at all levels and liaise and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

Your profile

Ideally, you'll have:

Degree (preferably in Law)
Legally qualified lawyer or barrister
Previous shipping law experience
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with individual members
Previous Club (P&I) experience would be desirable or previous experience of working on claims in the maritime industry
Willingness to travel
