    Location: Hybrid, 2 days in Winfrith Newburgh (Dorset)

    Rate: Competitive

    Duration: 6 months initially

    Status: Outside IR35

    Job Description:

    X-Net provide consulting and digital transformation services to law enforcement, security, and government organisations so they can protect the public and reduce costs.

    We work with a range of military, intelligence and government organisations and currently have a a new opportunity to work as part of our new defence business unit based in Dorset. This new unit focuses on promoting greater collaboration between industry, academia, and defence by creating a safe environment to explore challenges and demonstrate new and emerging technologies.

    We are currently looking for an experienced Business Analyst who, working alongside several other teams and stakeholders, will be responsible for helping to define the requirements, and overseeing the establishment and implementation of a new knowledge hub, which is a critical and central part of the evolving capability. The position will take a lead role in the requirement capture for the platform, and subsequent development of an appropriate solution.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop a knowledge architecture for identifying, organising, and providing access to a wide range of knowledge assets.
    • Develop an appropriate means of categorising knowledge so that it can be tagged and easily searched within the knowledge hub.
    • Identify technology requirements for creating, using, and organising knowledge.
    • Identify ways in which knowledge can be shared across teams and organisations while also being cognisant of such factors as information security, IPR and data sensitives.
    • Ensure the knowledge hub complies with all legal requirements, such as adhering to GDPR.
    • Work with and educate the wider team to ensure that knowledge is captured and stored at all relevant points and reviewed and updated as required.
    • Undertake regular knowledge audits to determine what knowledge is available, where it is stored and the business processes supporting the knowledge hub to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
    • Undertake continuous improvement to evolve and develop the knowledge hub.
    • Ensure coherence between behaviours, culture and technology to create the overall knowledge architecture and ecosystem.
    • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to understand business challenges and requirements and, where appropriate, look to develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
    • Work with the project manager to provide assurance during delivery, helping to problem solve and trouble shoot as required.
    • Tackle complex projects and lead on Business Analysis effort.
    • Perform necessary requirement gathering sessions to capture business, technical, and functional requirements.
    • Review and understand requirements from customers, when provided, to identify and capture missing information.
    • Work with customers' technical and business teams to understand, document, and articulate business process and information flows.
    • Create requirements specifications, process flow diagrams, and low fidelity wireframes to illustrate recommended solutions based on requirements.
    • Develop roadmap in a phase approach based on priorities and customer's timeline
    • Lead customer presentations, discussions, and interviews to both gather information as well as present specification, diagrams and wireframes.
    • Define and manage project scope, identify changing requirements and implementing change management procedures.
    • Provide estimates on requirements elicitation, design and application build.

    Skill and Experience

    • Must hold an active SC security clearance, preferably DV Clearance.
    • Solid experience of developing knowledge hubs from inception through to utilisation and managing a range of both digital and paper assets
    • Experience of working with both internal and external information and knowledge sources
    • Experience of working across a range of organisations both in the public and private domain
    • Understanding of defence and security sector is desirable as well as understanding of information security classifications.
    • A background or qualification in library and information management is desirable.
    • A good understanding of taxonomies and metadata as well as a broad understanding of information governance.
    • Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio.
