CJS Support Team Leader (Criminal Justice System) - Competitive Salary + Benefits - Wisbech
**The Role

Do you possess knowledge of the Criminal Justice System coupled with experience in working with vulnerable adults with a variety of needs? If so, we want to hear from you.


We are looking for a CJS Support Team Leader, in this role you will carry out needs and risk assessments of clients during their stay with the Ferry Project.

To ensure that each client is fully supported in his/her development and progress to independence,according to his/her individual support plan and self-determined goals.


This role will include line management of a small team where staff will seek guidance and support from this lead worker.

You will need to ensure that staff have access to the relevant training opportunities and have regular 1:1 session which will monitorperformance, wellbeing and support.

**Key Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of a CJS Support Team Leader include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the support team whilst on shift.
  • Be the lead practitioner on understanding the needs of clients who have engaged with the Criminal Justice system (CJS) and how to support and help them as they look to move their lives forward.
  • Train and manage other support staff in their team especially in connection to clients with involvement with the CJS, both current and historic.
  • To manage a caseload of clients ensuring that their individual needs are met and to ensure that a comprehensive support plan is completed and reviewed weekly.
  • Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging to achieve Support Plan goals and that are client led.
  • Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with clients within an attitude of 'positive risk taking.
  • Upskilling staff team in particular area of expertise
  • Trauma informed Care.
  • Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes.

The aim of Ferry Project is not simply to provide accommodation, but to give people the skills they need to enable them to live independently.

These include life skills such as cooking and cleaning, education courses, vocational training, volunteering andemployment opportunities.

**The Person
The key skills and qualities of a CJS Support Team Leader are:

  • Have at least one qualification in either drugs and alcohol, mental health, or learning disabilities (or high levels of experience in these fields) and have evidence of how you have put this into practice.
  • Have knowledge in the Criminal Justice System
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Good knowledge of using IT systems applicable to administration including databases.
  • Understands Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining good administrative based processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience of client support procedures and systems.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults with a variety of needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the work of the Criminal Justice System and the Probation Service.
  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation and National Standards.
