    Position: Sr Java Engineer

    Location: Birmingham - 5 days a week

    Length: 6 months + extensions

    Worker Type: Umbrella

    Why open?: Building a net new ledger database and replacing/overhauling ledger for the organization. This ledger is the backbone of the booking system used by the organization.

    Must haves:


    • 5+ years of experience as a Java engineer


    • Strong hands on experience with spring framework


    • Programming experience with languages like Python


    • Experience working in an enterprise environment


    • Experience working within an Agile environment


    • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis and object orientated programming


    • Ability to contribute through the complete SDLC from requirements to deployment using Git, Jenkins and other similar tools.


    • Minimum 1 years experience with relational or NoSQL databases


    • Experience with Rest APIs, and java frameworks such as Dropwizrd


    • Strong written and verbal communication skills


    • Bachelor degree of higher in computer science or other related engineering fields

    Plusses:


    • Experience with React


    • Experience with MongoDB


    • Experience working on streaming technologies like Kaftka and distributed technologies like Apache Ignite


    • Experience working on AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, IaC

    Day to day:

    Insight Global is looking for a Sr Java Developer to join one of the largest financial services clients located in Birmingham for a 6 month ongoing contract. The chosen candidate will be sitting in the loans engineering group and working on a large scale and long term initiative in overhauling their current ledger database and system for loans by rebuilding a brand new one in the cloud (the team is specifically working with GCP). This is the fundamental backbone of all booking systems within the organisation. The candidate will be working in an agile and sprint environment, assigned Jira requests and coding in Java to build these services that make up the ledger database. The candidate needs to ensure that the new ledger is scalable, performant, and resilient to manage loans data and quality at a large scale. Additionally, the candidate will also be involved in collaborating with software and data engineers across the firm in delivering data platforms and pipelines for the loans team. The build of this platform would be using distributed compute, distributed micro-services, multi-threating and multi-processing. The candidate will be expected to be heavily hands on coding on a daily basis. This role is an onsite role and requires 5 days/week in office.
