    Sample Librarian Job Description

    Forging and maintaining supplier relationships, being aware of design events and keeping us to date with new products and materials.


    Key Areas of Responsibility:
    1. Librarian2. Leading supplier relations3. Be a brand ambassador for the company4. Studio support Key Responsibilities for Librarian:1. Organisation and maintenance of a systematic and orderly store of all physical samples.2. Maintaining the Library as a tidy, front of house space for the Studio.3. Updating samples on rolling basis, as relevant, to maintain the latest collections.4. Disposing of broken, redundant, out of date samples.5. Archiving completed projects samples as necessary.6. Assisting with packing samples for external meetings, sending samples to clients abroad, or project related travel.7.

    Actively seeking new and exciting finishes, both online and outside the studio, to present to the design team on a monthly basis.8.

    Updating the digital database for the team, on outlook and other platforms.9. Support with sample requirements on a project basis as and when required.10. Supporting the team with preparing material palettes for client meetings.11. Labelling samples when required.12. Researching, cataloguing, and presenting packages such as bed linen, drapery, tableware either in InDesign or PowerPoint.13. Assisting the Design team on dressing packages.14.

    Circulating and diarizing invitations to design events, shows, exhibitions and sample sales as well as adding reoccurring markets and antique fairs.


    Key Responsibilities for managing Supplier Relations:1.Leading the scheduling of supplier meetings, CPD's and lunch-and-learn meetings for the Design team, including food ordering etc.2.

    Being the point of contact for suppliers to update their sample collections within the library. 3. Manage the existing Supplier database on Outlook.4. Managing the library diary and events. Key Responsibilities for Studio Support1.


    Support in front of house:

    greeting guests in a positive and enthusiastic manner, showing them where to wait and offering them tea and coffee when needed.

    Preparing and clearing the meeting rooms. Liaising with clients and client representatives in a pleasant and professional manner.2.


    Support in answering the phone:
    High level phone manners and ensuring messages are passed onto the team as and when needed

    The applicant would aspire to become a specialist in certain areas of design, allocating time each week for research which they then present to the ID team (this could be inDesign or Powerpoint).

    The ID team can then come to the librarian for support as required.

    Areas of specialism (not limited to) to include:

    • Knowledge of fabrics and finishes
    • Bedlinen
    • Tableware
    • Window treatments
    • Cushion detailing Experience:1-2 years of managing a material library, ideally at a London based luxury interior design studio

    Requirement:
    2 days a week
