School of Healthcare Sciences
The School of Healthcare Sciences delivers a wide range of teaching and research activity at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

This encompasses a broad range of healthcare professions including diagnostic radiography and imaging, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, operating department practice, physiotherapy, radiotherapy and oncology.

We aim to provide a rounded experience for our students, ensuring they become skilled, knowledgeable, and compassionate healthcare professionals committed to an ethos of evidence-based care.


  • We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, selfmotivated individual to join our dynamic Placement Support Team. The team has responsibility for providing comprehensive, proactive, professional administrative support related to all aspects of student placements for healthcare professions within the School. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with administrative colleagues, academic staff, students, and external placement providers, including staff in the NHS. Working with complex spreadsheets, it is essential you have a good working knowledge of Excel. Problem solving skills and time management skills are key requirements of the role.
  • The position is available on a fulltime basis (35 hours per week) and is open ended

Salary:

£22,197 per annum, with 4 annual increments up to £24,144 per annum (final salary at top of Grade 3)

JOB PURPOSE


Provide an administrative service to the School of Healthcare Sciences, engaging in and completing a range of routine tasks to meet operational and customer service requirements.

Provide support and guidance on student placements administration, ensure the Placements team is supported, and key duties undertaken.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Duties

  • Deal with a range of enquires from internal (staff & students) and external (members of the public) customers in a professional manner, establishing their needs and adapting the standard responses accordingly.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department including the allocation of individual students to suitable placement learning opportunities.
  • Updating information relating to individual students and placement providers within the student records system in an accurate and timely manner and ensure appropriate archiving and disposal.
  • Liaising with individual students about placement allocations and advise them on matters relating to placement education.
  • Liaising with academic staff and placement providers in respect of placement learning opportunities.
  • Providing placement providers/coordinators with relevant information and documentation where appropriate, in preparation for students attending clinical placement.
  • Supporting the administration of timely and meaningful conduct of clinical audit activities and update databases in response to findings.
  • Assisting the Placement Support Officer in the maintenance of placement profiles and preplacement information in order to support the student experience in their placement preparation.
  • Liaising with administrative colleagues, particularly in relation to matters of relevance to student placements, in the continuous improvement of School administrative services and the enhancement of the student experience.
  • Actively contribute to the success of the team and support the supervision and management of it.
