This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCA in Sexual Health to become a Senior HCA within the integrated sexual health service at NUH.

We are a friendly multi disciplinary team providing care and support for patients on the Sexual health and HIV care pathway.


The post holder will deliver a high standard of care to patients who present with sexually transmitted infections, HIV, contraception, and /or any other sexual health related problems.


The post holder will be based Nottingham University Hospital trust, clinics are delivered at GU Medicine, Victoria Health Centre, spokes around Nottingham city and county and in various Outreach settings.

Main duties of the job


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant with experience in sexual health that wishes to progress to a Senior HCA.

This progression will involve developing new skills and taking on the lead for HCA training.

Providing clinical services and education with the outreach team in non traditional health care settings for difficult to reach groups.

Supporting the result management team and carrying out partner notification.

The service operates from Monday to Thursday, on Friday and on Saturdays. Out of hours duties may be required to support the outreach team.

The post holder will take the lead for teaching on microscopy.

Asymptomatic screening, venepuncture, assistance in clinics.

Cryotherapy.

Teaching one to one and in group settings.

Result management and Partner notification.

Ensuring all infection control procedures are adhered to.

Health promotion and education at outreach events.

Involvement with service audits.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English Grade C or equivalent / working towards
  • GCSE Maths Grade C or equivalent / working towards
  • NVQ level 3 relevant to the role


  • Safeguarding level

  • Training in Microscopy
  • STIF Foundation
  • Venepuncture
Desirable criteria

  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Cryotherapy Training
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Substantial experience of working in sexual health
  • Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults
  • Counselling patients in distress
Desirable criteria

  • Experience of teaching in groups and one to one
Communication

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of using electronic patient records

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates an ability to deliver care and prioritise work under the direction of a registered nurse.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
