We are seeking to appoint to this new role of Navigator within our Chemotherapy Day Unit.

You will work alongside the nursing team assisting in the co-ordination of the unit's activities to maximise efficiency and enabling the nursing team to optimise direct patient care.

Your daily duties will include co-ordinating and optimising the timeliness of patient treatments (80+ patients each day Monday - Friday) on both RUH site and community setting.

The post holder will liaise with a diverse range of people including patients, pharmacists, staff in aseptic services and medical colleagues.

You will have experience of dealing with chemotherapy cancer pathways and experience of managing demanding workloads. If you feel you can rise to this challenge then we look forward to hearing from you.

Work alongside the nursing team in RUH and community Chemotherapy Day Units assisting in the coordination of the activities to maximise efficiency.
Liaising with nursing and oncology pharmacy staff to coordinate supply of systemic anticancer treatments (SACT) availability for time of each patient's appointment.
Liaise between nursing staff and aseptic pharmacy regarding patient attendance and communicating 'go ahead' and delays to maximise an efficient and cost effective medicines management service to the Chemotherapy Day Care Units.
Liaise between nursing and medical staff and aseptic pharmacy regarding inpatients on Wm Budd Ward who are due to receive SACT and communicating 'go ahead' and delays to maximise an efficient and cost effective medicines management.
Preparing medication trays for nursing staff (following comprehensive training) to minimise nursing providing direct face to face care.
Communicating any delay in appointments to patients on day of attendance.
To support nursing and pharmacy team in ensuring patients receive their supportive medication prior to discharge.
Refer patients to community nursing team (where required) as directed by the nursing staff.
Responsible for temperature monitoring of fridges and room temperature cupboards are recorded and taking remedial action where required to optimise safety of medicines.
