About the Role

The Scientific Computing Department (SDC) administration team are looking a strong Administrator to join our friendly, established group.

As a team we are responsible for supporting Scientific Projects by carrying out a variety of task, from taking minutes,to collating and tracking budgets, to arranging conferences both on and off site.

This is a rewarding role where you will interact with numerous people daily from outside the team, and you will often work autonomously on your given tasks including:

  • Web updates
  • Source/book venue
  • Monitoring registrations
  • Booking catering
  • Preparing conference packs/badges/signs
  • Attend and support workshops as required
  • Arranging accommodation and travel (both overseas and UK)
  • Act as the first point of contact with internal staff, visitors and collaborators

To be successful you will need:

  • To be highly organised, with the ability to handle a busy workload and to meet deadlines with the support of the administration team.
  • Demonstrate relevant skills and expertise in working in an Administration role.
  • To have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, good social skills and be flexible in your approach to achieving team objectives.
  • To be able to prioritise your tasks successfully and demonstrate a proficient understanding of the MS Office suite (Word, Outlook and Excel), with an accurate eye for detail
  • Be available to travel/work to support events and visit other STFC sites as required.
