This is an exciting opportunity for a customer focussed and enthusiastic front of house manager with strong communication, inter-personal and organisational skills to contribute towards the making this vibrant arts centre a key venue on the national stage.

When on duty for performances, classes, events, or general building opening the duty manager, will be to be responsible for the full front of house operation of the arts centre, co-ordinating volunteers and operational staff and overseeing all contractors, performers and public to ensure the effective efficient and safe delivery of our services with the highest standards of customer care.

Whilst on duty the post will be responsible for the building and its resources, to ensure the security and health and safety of the arts centre, its resources, and users.


Main duties and responsibilities
maintaining a high level of visibility when acting as duty manager
always ensuring that the Cornerstone staff and volunteer staff on duty work in line with the arts centre's operating systems and procedures and legislative regulations
ensuring the delivery of a timely and efficient ticket sales operation from the box office
ensuring that all staff and volunteers operate to the highest standards of customer service
ensuring that the public areas of the building are always clean and clear, and all escape routes are fully accessible
overseeing performers, tutors, artists, hirers, and other visiting providers at the arts centre
liaising with performers, artists, and other users to ensure the timely, effective, and safe delivery of their services
responsibility for securing the building at the end of shifts and for unlocking the building prior to shifts where necessary and for the general security of the building when on duty
effectively, efficiently, and safely managing contractors accessing the arts centre during a duty shift
when on duty, assisting the café manager deliver a smooth customer service
being fully conversant with the conditions attached to the arts centre's operating licenses
To set up rooms and spaces for meetings and events
To assist the venue manager and duty manager ensure smooth building usage
To help run the day-to-day delivery of the hires business.

To form part of the hires team responding to enquiries, giving tours to prospective clients, scheduling and attending client and team meetings, keep the hires database up to date, issue contracts, ensure that all billing is up to date and accurate and to be responsible for the logistical planning for all meetings and conferences including effective communication with other relevant team members.

regularly inspect the building and report any maintenance or cleaning issues
To ensure the highest standards of safety, presentation, and cleanliness.
To assist the venue manager, ensure the safe day-to-day operation of the arts centre
To update existing risk assessments
To be fully conversant with the conditions attached to the arts centres operating

This is an active-duty management position where the post holders time is divided between duty management and desk work. The post holder will require great time management skills and will thrive in a busy environment.


The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.


Your skills, knowledge and experience


At least one years duty / house management experience in a theatre or performing arts building would be highly advantageous.

Experience of supervising staff.
Experience of delivering and administering room hires and conferencing would be advantageous
Strong organisational skills
Excellent customer service skills
Aptitude for short and long term logistical planning and a keen eye for detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Great interpersonal and communication skills and strong people management skills
Enthusiasm and love for the arts
High level of interest in Cornerstone and its activities
Previous experience with ticketing systems would be beneficial


Your qualifications
3 'A' levels or equivalent.
A degree would be desirable but is not essential.
First aid in the workplace is desirable
