  • Job description
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join an Asset Performance team in the UK's biggest environmental organisation. We manage flood risk assets across the East Midlands ensuring they protect our communities from the risk of flooding. As professional Asset Managers, you will help lead a team inspecting, maintaining, and refurbishing flood risk assets which include kilometres of riverbanks, sluice gates and flood storage reservoirs.

As an organisation we have an ambition to be Carbon Net Zero by 2030 and this will influence how we do things in the future.

We are planning for future climate change and flood scenarios, working with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

We are looking for individuals with an enthusiastic and positive attitude that will help deliver our priorities.

These priorities may include:

  • Taking responsibility for ensuring our assets meet performance and legal requirements
  • Technical leadership of team members, assisting with their development and supporting the Team Leader as part of the team's leadership group
  • Developing Operational and Investment Plans
  • Working as a 'Senior User' on various projects
  • Leading on communications and engagement with partners
  • Developing and assisting in the delivery of Asset Performance projects and programmes of work
  • Leading on data management improvements
  • Leading our routine maintenance programme.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

This advertisement is for 1x permanent position and 1x 23-month assignment with the potential to be made permanent.

  • The team
  • We are a motivated and vibrant team responsible for managing flood and coastal erosion risk assets to reduce the impact of flooding. We do this by managing the whole lifecycle of our assets, including the effects of climate change through planning, delivery, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Our team is a mix of civil engineers, asset inspectors, maintenance programmers, project managers, senior users and various specialists including data analysts, incident leads and engagement officers.

  • Experience/skills required
  • As a senior member of the team, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help develop others and deliver asset management activities. You will be an integral part of the leadership team, working alongside the Team Leader to develop technical resilience in the team and rise to the challenge of the Environment Agency becoming leading asset managers.

You will need to travel to offices/locations where public transport is limited so a full UK driving licence is required.

  • Contact and additional information
  • We are committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies. Everyone starting in a role will be welcomed into the team and, as part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role.
