    About the role

    We are recruiting for a Head of Planning and Operations to join the Research Culture team. This role is available as a secondment for internal UCL staff only, from 1st July to 31st December .

    This role is offered on a hybrid basis, the successful candidate will be expected to work a minimum of 1 day/week on campus.

    Reporting to the Director of Research Culture, the Head of Planning and Operations will form part of the Research Culture Leadership team and will lead on planning, reporting finance, HR and team development as well as communications and data workstreams. Responsible for a number of direct reports, they will manage and coach the growing operations team and effectively collaborate with key partners across UCL.

    Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing specialists to improve the data and communications needed to underpin a healthy research culture.
  • Leading planning and reporting against institutional commitments related to Research Culture.
  • Lead on the governance of the Research Culture Programme.
  • Coordinates support to optimise the performance of the Research Culture team.

    About you

    To be considered for this role, you should be educated to degree level, or gave substantial relevant experience in a similar role. You must have experience of implementing strategic plans in a complex business or academic environment and significant knowledge or lived experience of research culture. You should have experience in leading teams to achieve shared objectives and managing direct reports.

    You are a strategic thinker, able to plan for the medium and long term as well as the day-to day. You have excellent financial skills and proven ability to write concise and persuasive reports, proposals, business cases and planning documents for senior stakeholders. You have excellent analytical skills, a strong sense of problem ownership and solving capability, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
