    Salary : £50,000 to £60,000 depending on experience

    Job Purpose

    The Broadcast & Production Metadata systems within BS&A (Business Systems & Applications) play a crucial role in the collection, aggregation, editorialisation & distribution of key metadata at the BBC, including onward publication to external & public platforms.

    The team are responsible for a number of products in the BBC metadata chain, which help support key workflows for iPlayer, , File Based Delivery, Music Reporting, Compliance, Production Reporting, Audience Viewing Figures, EPG's, Press Deliveries, Now/Next Triggering and much more.

    The products source metadata for TV, Radio & Online from multiple upstream systems, with the category of data ranging from commissioning & scheduling, to production reporting, to a huge back-catalogue of archive data. We expose a REST API and custom front-end Explorer for our data clients and other downstream systems, acting as a central hub for programme & schedule metadata, helping to make the data easy to find, use and share for better business processes & tools.

    We are looking for a Delivery Manager to join the team, where you will work closely with the Product Manager, Software Engineers, Testers, Analysts and key Stakeholders on a number of complex products.

    This is a crucial role within the team, and which involves core responsibilities such as:


    • Roadmapping, delivery planning & estimating.

    • Driving the team deliveries forward.

    • Backlog management.

    • Ensuring Agile working across the team (including running the team ceremonies such as Standups, 3-Amigo sessions, Demo sessions, Team Look Ahead and Retrospectives).

    • Client & stakeholder management.

    • Release management.

    • Tracking actions, risks & issues, and managing blockers where they arise.

    • Capturing notes on behalf of the team where applicable.

    • Engineer/Resource allocation for all deliveries.

    • Regular reporting to team management and stakeholders on the progress of deliveries and workstreams.

    The team are hybrid working and predominantly located in Glasgow, with this particular role also being Glasgow-based. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the Glasgow office, on average, 2 days per week.

  • Responsible for driving the digital delivery process of products and services across our portfolio
  • Able to implement agile delivery methodology as needed to deliver a successful outcome
  • Coaches teams on agile/lean techniques
  • Responsible for maintaining delivery momentum and managing blockers, risks and impediments to progress
  • Responsible for ensuring deliverables are defined against clearly articulated outcomes
  • Leads continuous planning practices and ensures work is visible and there is an iterative plan to work towards that is actively communicated and understood by teams & stakeholders
  • Responsible for making sure your team understands their mission, vision and goals and that these align across the organisation
  • Responsible for identifying and bringing the right people together at the right time. Understands how and when to include people in communications, agile ceremonies and to make decisions
  • Responsible for facilitating healthy team dynamics. Ensuring the team is collaborative and communicating effectively with each other
  • Responsible for leading on creating an environment where continuous improvements of teams' working practices can happen, including measuring success, inspecting and adapting
  • Actively seeks to improve teams' working practices (including coaching on lean/agile practices) where needed
  • Active member of the wider agile delivery community learning, sharing and applying skills and knowledge to improve
  • Supports effective supplier and budget management to deliver successful outcomes

  • You have demonstrable experience successfully delivering digital products, platforms and services using agile methods. You are accountable for driving the delivery process, and responsible for ensuring deliverables are defined against clearly articulated outcomes.
  • You have demonstrable experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams and are able to influence, bridge specialisms and navigate ambiguity. You are responsible for maintaining delivery momentum and managing blockers, risks and impediments to progress.
  • You are adept at breaking down barriers for your team with the ability to plan at a higher level and get into the detail to make things happen when needed.
  • You are proficient at implementing delivery plans in line with the portfolio strategy and product objectives, in line with direction from managers.
  • You understand the different phases of product delivery and can contribute to, plan and run these. In-depth knowledge of how processes and resources interact to help achieve functional/divisional targets and objectives.
