    The Business

NF Forensics (NFF) and its predecessor (PN Finance) have been in operation since 2011. NFF provides custom and idea-driven research to institutional equity investors based on forensic accounting analysis. Effectively, we look to understand the accounts of a company and highlight any associated risks / areas of potential concern. Our clients are all European institutional equity investors and consist of traditional long only funds (asset managers and pension funds) and hedge funds. NFF is completely independent and engages in no other business except forensic accounting analysis.

    The Person

Above all we are seeking an individual with a strong work ethic and is naturally curious who has a keen interest in equity markets.

We are keen to hear from applicants principally from two backgrounds:

    1. Equity research: The ideal profile will have 3+ years experience from another investment management firm (long-only or long/short) or a high-quality sell-side organisation.
    2. Accounting: 3+ years' experience in professional services (corporate finance, audit, etc).

Candidates must either have completed a chartered accountancy course or have passed at least Level 2 of the CFA examinations.

    • In order to be considered for the role it is necessary to have the following traits:
      • A genuine and demonstratable interest in accounting & forensic accounting analysis.
      • Ability to service clients and develop lasting client relationships.
      • A willingness to ask questions.
      • Naturally sceptical while remaining objective.

    The Position

    The role will involve:

    • Detailed analysis of publicly available accounts, presentations and call transcripts (including peer comparison) to identify potential areas of concern.
    • Interacting with the investor relations teams of companies covered in order to understand accounting items which are not clear.
    • Producing customised reports and presenting analysis / findings to clients.
    • Independent screening and analysis of financial data to try and identify Company accounts which have potential areas of concern. Writing reports on companies where concerns have been identified.
    • Other ad hoc projects and business development activities.
