Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant (MMPA) to support the Medicine Management Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists at ward level to provide Medicines Management services.

The role includes duties such as patient counselling, assembling medicines at ward level, topping up wards with stock.

You will also participate in the dispensing of prescriptions for in-patients and in associated pharmaceutical duties.

Full training will be provided in the department. You must have a willingness to learn in a fast paced environment.


Please note:
Experience of working in a pharmaceutical related or hospital environment is essential. The applicant must possess an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services.


To sort returned drugs/waste at ward level, separating items to be credited and those to be discarded, according to procedure; to put back returns on the computer as per procedure.


To participate in the "topping-up" service supplying stocks of medicinal products to wards and departments, and participate in the 'non-stock' top up service to one stop wards.


To provide information to patients/carers, according to procedures; to provide information about prescription payment, exemption and further supplies as well.

To supervise as required, less experienced pharmacy support workers, pre-registration pharmacy technicians.

To participate in the in-house continuing education programme for medicine management team.

To support the Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician (MMPTs) and Pharmacists at ward level to provide Medicines Management services.


The post holder will work under the supervision of a MMPT to assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within the Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and cost effective medicines management programme.

This role will involve direct patient contact.

To participate in the dispensing of prescriptions for in-patients and in associated pharmaceutical duties.


To participate in all other dispensary activities as designated by the Pharmacy technician team manager patient services or their deputy.
