MEW is spearheading the development of floating offshore wind in Welsh waters through the Celtic Sea Developer Alliance (CSDA). The aim of the CSDA is to ensure the Celtic Sea opportunity is maximised at the scale and pace required for Net Zero, and to place Wales as a global leader within the sector. The CSDA promotes collaboration and engagement, provides support and acts as a unified voice to influence policy and to coordinate and strengthen stakeholder engagements. You will be the key point of contact for our CSDA members and help to drive the industry forward.

In joining MEW, you'll play a crucial role in helping Wales realise it's marine energy potential and shaping our future energy system.

The perfect addition to our team:

We are in search of an ambitious and highly capable individual who will lead on the floating offshore wind aspects of our marine energy programme. On behalf of our CSDA members, you work closely with decision-makers, including the UK and Welsh Government and The Crown Estate, to tackle the key challenges FLOW developers face; such as grid, consenting and supply chain development and shaping the next generation of offshore wind.

The Floating Wind Project Manager's responsibilities encompass developing a comprehensive action plan for the CSDA and reviewing the current working groups. You will nurture strong relationships with CSDA members and key stakeholders through meetings and events, represent the FLOW sector in various forums and stay informed about all the relevant sector news. You will also be involved in assisting Welsh supply chain companies to enter the sector and will become familiar with future skills and workforce requirements.

The day to day:

Working with our members and key stakeholders, you shape the next generation of offshore wind:

Take the lead in all Floating Wind initiatives within the MEW programme and regularly liaise with CSDA members.

Build relationships and work closely with various organisations and individuals, including strategic project partners, funders, and other stakeholders, to ensure alignment with sector requirements.

Engage with stakeholders in the public sector by delivering presentations, chairing and organising meetings and events.

Prepare political briefing notes, letters, and coordinate industry responses to consultations.

Act as a spokesperson for the CSDA at meetings and events, such as the Celtic Sea All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

Develop and implement a robust action plan to drive the ambitions of the CSDA and MEW.

Stay informed about the latest sector news and developments, particularly related to leasing processes and Contracts for Difference rounds.

Effectively manage CSDA bi-monthly meetings, including calendar management, setting the agenda, inviting speakers, obtaining regional updates, taking minutes, and providing support to ensure the meetings are valuable for members.

Collaborate with other MEW Project Managers to ensure alignment across all marine renewable energy programmes and to deliver projects according to funding requirements and budget.

Maintain a monthly interface with the Welsh Government to report on activities supporting Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW) development in the Celtic Sea.

Familiarise yourself with future workforce and skills requirements for FLOW projects and support activities that enhance their delivery linking closely to PCF's Programme Manager for Skills and Education.

Provide interface between CSDA and Celtic Sea Cluster, voicing the developer views.

Assist the MEW Communications Coordinator in generating FLOW-related content for MEW marketing channels.

Contribute to broader project work as needed, including involvement in the MEW annual conference.

Key responsibilities:

Build and maintain strong relationships with members and stakeholders.

Effectively Manage CSDA to deliver high value to its members and deliver the aim to ensure the Celtic Sea opportunity is maximised at the scale and pace required for Net Zero.

Professionally represent the MEW and the CSDA as required.

Core skills :

Essential:

Thorough understanding of the offshore wind sector including its role and potential and barriers and challenges faced by project developers.

Highly organised, outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong and effective communicator.

Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.

Proactive, self-motivated with ability to work on several tasks with minimal supervision and under pressure.

Excellent IT skills.

Relevant project management experience in a related sector.

Problem solving skills and enthusiasm to find solutions.

Qualified to degree level in related discipline or equivalent experience.

Organisational skills with experience of organising and hosting meetings and events.

Experience of engaging and building rapport with and managing a broad range of stakeholders including public and private sectors and academic community.

Desirable:

Experience of working within the Welsh policy context.

Ability to speak Welsh.

Experience in public affairs

The ability to travel to meetings/events/site visits within Wales, the UK and Europe including overnight stays is a necessary and regular feature of this post, a passport and suitable vehicle are required. The post will involve occasional evening and weekend working.
