The Role


The Commercial Department at PRS for Music is the customer facing and revenue generating arm of one of the world's leading music copyright collectives.

We are a UK based team of over 40 individuals who currently generate in excess of £650 million per year for our members through licensing music usage to a wide variety of industries, including; major and independent record labels, music festivals, broadcasters, computer game platforms and publishers and increasingly Web3 and the Metaverse.


We are currently undergoing a dynamic and exciting Sales Transformation process that will result in us delivering in excess of £1 billion a year to our members by 2026 and we are looking for new colleagues to help us reach our goals.

Responsibilities:

As our Commercial Economist you will be responsible for delivering economic input into strategically critical commercial projects, principally developing new standard prices/tariffs for our core markets, as well as supporting ad hoc analysis to support deal negotiations and creating research pieces and impact assessments of commercial opportunities and competitive threats.

As our Commercial Economist, some of your day to day duties will include.

  • Leading on the delivery of economic and/or quantitative analysis within key commercial projects.
  • Analyse market trends and patterns to inform the commercial approaches taken by the division.
  • Providing economic advice on economic and/or quantitative issues across areas of the Commercial Partnerships division.
  • Developing economic frameworks to assess pricing options.
  • Making recommendations to prioritise and enhance our tariff development and commercial approaches.
  • Assessing the impact of our prices and commercial policies including reviewing performance of newly launched and legacy music licence products

  • Highly numerate with the ability to assimilate and summarise matters of complexity concisely.

  • First class communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence and diplomacy to develop longterm relationships and deliver futurefacing insights to senior management
  • An undergraduate degree in economics (or a discipline with a substantial economic component) or relevant experience in economics or quantitative analysis roles.
  • Experience of distilling and communicating economic information and arguments for a wide variety of audiences.

The Process
Our interview process for this role is simple and as follows:

  • First stage interview competency (evidence based) held virtually.
  • Second stage interview in person at our London Bridge Hub which will include a presentation

Location
We offer a hybrid working model, allowing employees to work from home for 3 days per week. However, when you see the view from our London Bridge Hub overlooking the River Thames, we are sure you will want to join us in our fun, collaborative working space
