    In July 2022Manchester launchedan ambitiousnew Housing Strategy.Nearly twoyears on weare nowindelivery mode,makingsignificant progresstowards meeting the headline target ofbuilding36,000 new homes by 2032–including 10,000newaffordable homes.

    Working within the Strategic Housing service, this senior postwill play an essential role in overseeing and reporting ontheprogresswe are makingto deliver the strategy,whilst alsocontributingdirectlytokeyelementsof our approach,including work to improve conditions in the private rented sectoracross the city.

    We will be looking forexperience,knowledge, understanding and potential.With significant and demonstrable experience in all aspects of housing strategy,strategic planning, policy making and corporate governance,you willbe confident workingwith a diverse communityof Councillors, community leaders,residentsandRegisteredProviders.

    We need someone tolead, manage and deliver on our ambitious and diverse housing agenda, someone who;

    • Understands thepolarisednature of housing in Manchesterand is motivated to address inequalities
    • Recognisesthe links between housing, economicgrowthand wider regeneration objectives
    • Is an exceptional communicator – both verbally and in writing
    • Understands the scale of thechallengeand ispassionate about deliveringchange
    • Can interpretdataand performance against settargets orcriteria
    • Is able tounderstand,evaluateand adviseagainstthevariousoptionsavailable
    • Willinspireand take people with thembothwithin and outside the council
