    An exciting leadership opportunity awaits at our small independent special school in Uxbridge.

    We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced English Teacher with expertise in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), to join our committed team on a permanent basis, with the added responsibility of leading our English department.


    As an English Teacher with Lead Responsibility, you will not only deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum but also provide direction and support to colleagues within the English department.

    You will play a pivotal role in shaping the English curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with SEMH, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.


    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and implementation of personalized English lesson plans for students with SEMH.
    • Provide direction and support to colleagues within the English department, ensuring cohesive and effective delivery of the curriculum.
    • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes social and emotional well-being through English education.
    • Collaborate closely with our dedicated staff team to provide effective support and maintain a positive learning environment.
    • Employ proven behavior management strategies to facilitate an optimal learning environment for all students in English classes.
    • Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to contribute to the overall success of the school, particularly in the area of English education.

    Requirements:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with specialized experience in teaching English to students with SEMH.
    • Demonstrated success in engaging students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges through English education.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external professionals in the context of English teaching.
    • Adaptability in teaching methodologies to meet the diverse needs of individual students in English classes.
    • Dedication to fostering a positive and nurturing educational environment through the English curriculum.
